France

France is the most visited country in the world, receiving over 80 million tourists every year. The French are infamous for often being on strike, resulting in cancelled flights, trains, etc. If they could issue the rest of the world with calendars of their future strike dates so people know when to not visit, it would certainly be much appreciated.

Colmar

Colmar is a city in Alsace. With numerous half-timbered houses, canals and a flower-decked town centre, it's one of the prettiest places in France.

Paris

Paris is often touted as one of the most romantic cities in the world. The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre are indeed huge crowd drawers but I personally found the city to be very overrated. Paris is dingy and expensive. It was as enjoyable as a visit to the dentist. Update 2023: quite a lot of efforts have been to make the city more attractive, and the locals more focused on customer service. The 3rd visit has definitely been much more enjoyable than the first two. However that could also be because I went with very low expectations due to the prior trips.

Nice

Nice is a relic of old-world opulence combined with year-round sunshine. Its seaside location on the French Riviera is infamous, though I found its beaches highly overrated {mostly pebbles}. The mountainous backdrop is stunning.
