Switzerland

Switzerland is a mountainous Central European country, renowned for its watches, chocolate and for infamously attracting money from dictators and tax dodgers. It's home to the high peaks of the Alps and its cities contain medieval quarters that have been very well preserved thanks Switzerland's policy of neutrality during wars, hence avoiding invasions.

Chur

Chur is the oldest town in Switzerland and has a settlement history of over 5,000 years. The historic Old Town is completely car-free. There's shopping, cafes, restaurants etc but life seems to stop at 18:00.

Luzern

Luzern {Lucerne) is a compact city sitting amid snowcapped mountains on Lake Lucerne. It's known for its preserved medieval architecture and colorful Altstadt (Old Town). It's overrun with buses-loads of Chinese tourists and like the rest of Switzerland, eating out in Luzern will terrify frugal newcomers.

Jungfrau

An incredible day trip by train from Luzern, Jungfrau at 4,158 metres is one of the main summits of the Alps. It's the TOP of Europe and outstandingly beautiful and certainly very cold. Even in the summer, at the top you can still see the snow covered Alps.
